Arctic
char are appropriately named, for they have the
most northerly distribution of any freshwater
fish. They are found in lakes and rivers throughout
the northern hemisphere, including North America,
Asia, Europe, Iceland, and Greenland. In Canada,
this char occurs in Newfoundland, Labrador, and
eastern Quebec, and across the northern coastline,
including the various Arctic islands, North West
Territories and the Yukon. The U.S. range of the
Arctic char is restricted to Alaska.
